Background of Perlis MTB
Mid-2004, it started as a small group of individuals who got quite tired of indoor sports and noticed something ‘missing’ despite the healthy lifestyle. They then started to gather friends who shared the same view and interest. That was, cycling in the evening and weekends as a way of exercising and socializing while enjoying the panoramic beauty of nature. We cycled across paddy fields, shrubs, forests, hills and even mountains. Weekend cycling then was expanded into extreme off-road expedition plus camping for a few nights at foothills in various forests. We explored places that promises new challenges and experiences. Finally … this so-called group started to become more like a family. Every activities we held had enabled us to understand each other better. Weekends became the most awaited moment to carry out programmes, be it half-day cycling or night-camping and viewed the most beautiful places around the northern states of Peninsular Malaysia.
At the end of 2004, after the monsoon season, we organized an expedition to view the the Wang Perah Waterfall which is situated at Bukit Perangin forest reserve.

Wang Perah: 19 May 2004
This place is regarded as the peak of accreditation in our own ‘world’ of mountain biking due to it’s qualities and uniqueness that really suits the nature of the sport itself. New members that joined us will be brought here to enjoy the beauty of nature after an ultimate battle of man versus machine, on narrow track that tests their patience and endurance as mountain bikers, solidarity, and their adrenalin, of course. This spot offers astounding geological and biological diversity. With flora and fauna in abundance, wildlife can be seen with your own eyes if you’re lucky. The view from the summit is magnificently breathtaking. We could savour the cool mist of the spray while watching the rainbow through the trees. In this pristine heaven we do what we liked best and what we loved most.
Almost reaching it’s fifth anniversary, the club itself had been through several ups and downs just as the sport itself. We managed to overcome all difficulties due to helping hands from friends (it would be extremely awkward not to mention their names) such as Bidi, Haji Rashid, Sohaimee, Cikgu Fikri, Haji Shuib, Azam, Ron, Man KTM, Norman, Meo, Mail, Pak Non, Salehuddin, Aznal, Shuhaizi, Che Ros and the list goes on and on. What most important is, we stand united as one and every member is the backbone and soul to this association.
